ABOUT

Hi guys, and welcome to the Oldham Gooner blog.

Allow me to introduce myself.  I am the Oldham Gooner (obviously!), a lifelong fan of Arsenal Football Club.  Born in 1986, I remember starting to watch football when I was around 5 or 6 years of age in 1991/1992.

"How can you be from Oldham, yet support Arsenal???"  I hear you ask.

Well, let me tell you. I owe it all to my cousin, John. He's a few years older than me, and as he was an Arsenal supporter, I figured I would follow suit - and the rest is history as they say.

The first football match I can really recall watching on TV was England's World Cup Qualifier versus San Marino in 1993, which although it ended in a 7-1 win for England, it was not enough to qualify for the 1994 World Cup over in the USA. Back to Arsenal - although I know I watched games between 1991 and 1993, the European Cup Winners Cup campaign, which Arsenal went on to win, beating Parma in the final, with a stunning goal from Alan Smith, is what really sticks in my mind as cementing my love for the Gunners.

I decided to create this blog as somewhere I can publish my views on everything Arsenal. I don't want it to become like a lot of the Arsenal related blogs out there at the minute, which are made up of links to tabloid articles and transfer rumours. However, I might include those, if I wish to express my opinion on a specific article. Feel free to post comments, contact me, share this blog with your friends, etc.

*Please note, any derogatory comments will be removed, this includes, but is not limited to, racist comments, homophobic comments, and the like.
